I have registered on-line with the Italian national train company, but I'm not able to purchase an e-ticket from Milan to Savona. The only option that comes up is self-service for ticket delivery. We would really like to have our ticket printed and with us so that we can make a tight connection for a departing cruise. Any suggestions?

You probably picked one of the train combinations that involves a regional (R) train (eg. the 12:10 pm departure). Trenitalia doesn't allow e-tickets for journeys involving regional trains. However, any other combination will allow e-tickets. The ICPlus trip, for example, leaves an hour later, at 1:10 pm, but arrives only half an hour later than the 12:1o because it's a direct run in.
