I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong. I've logged on to the DB Bahn site to book tickets for December 22, 2012 from Munich to Mainz (I've tried Frankfurt as an alternative, too). The furthest out I can book tickets is December 8th. I was under the impression that tickets could be purchased up to 90 days in advance. Any suggestions would be apprecited.

Tim has the right answer. British timetables for the 9th of December forward haven't been published either. Unfortunately you are just in one of those periods. They occur twice a year. The German DBahn are usually some of the first to get their act in gear.

Normally you can book up to 92 days in advance on the DB site. However, European train timetables are d twice a year. New timetables will go into effect on 9 December. You won't be able to book tickets until the DB site s theirs (probably later this month). The new times should be virtually identical to the current ones. Changes, if any, should only differ by a few minutes.
