I'd like to get some sort of plastic cover for my Eurail Pass, something to keep it from getting thrashed in my daypack. Do they make such a thing or do any of you have any creative ideas?
Thanks,

Hi,
Not sure what size the passes are, but here is a suggestion:

If you are near to Staples or Michael's Craft Stores, check them out too.
TJMaxx might have something. I know TJM and Walmart sell waterproof, clear cell phone pouches; although they resemble a neck wallet. So, might be too thick.
Thanks mm14!
That link you provided to me was awesome, was able to find just the right size!

That's great! Glad I could help 😊
If you don't want to wait for Amazon delivery, check Office Max/Office Depot if you have one nearby. They have what you're looking for.
I haven't used a rail pass in almost 20 years (haven't found them to be cost effective), but when I did, I just put it in my neck wallet. It was fine.
I wonder if a checkbook holder would work, or would it be too short. You could always fold the pass.
Thanks Nancy, I will look next time I'm in Office Depot!
Lee, I'll be gone for the month of June and taking a lot of train journeys. The Eurail Pass actually works out for me, price wise. The Eurail Pass is the same 8.5" long and 4" wide as it was a long time ago. I don't know why they don't move to a better media (ID Card or something) Thanks!

I bought these envelopes on Amazon, but you can probably buy them singly, too. I always care one on trips for any paper things I might still need:

WhateverLA, What you describe (approx 22 cm x 10 cm) is the standard size for international long distance tickets. Like this: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/68/Trenord_train_ticket_6630559.jpg
Local tickets are credit-card sized, but tickets with train and seat details need to be larger, and a standard size agreed by all companies. So I don't expect it to change soon.
The blue and white triangles are also a standard, you get that on local tickets as well.
Incidently, it is the same size as air tickets were. Do you remember paper air tickets, that you used to get from a travel agent?
Do treat the pass like cash, as it's not replaceable if lost or stolen. Depending on the configuration of your day pack and whether it will always be on you, another interior pocket or money belt may be more secure. Even if you bought a Rail Protection Plan with the pass, you don't want the hassle of buying replacement tickets and filing a claim.
We have only used Swiss passes, but I assume they are the same size and shape. I carry ours in a long, narrow, flair zippered nylon pouch that came with one of my pieces of luggage. It has a clip at one end so I can fasten it inside my daypack, inside an internal pocket. That is where it starts and stays the whole trip. Easy to pull out when it is time to show it, but the rest of the time it is secure and I know exactly where it is at all times.
There are clear plastic pouches made for ID cards, cellphones etc., that come with a neck strap. That way, you can have access while on the train. Being see-through, you can show it and then tuck it inside your shirt or sweater, etc when not needed. Look for something like that at Office Depot, Walmart, or similar places. Low tech, low cost.
Found a fantastic plastic cover/envelope at Office Depot, on sale for $1.00. Fits my Pass in the snapped portion and also my Eurail Map/Eurail Guide in the slide in section. Item # 433647
Thanks everyone
