My family and I are about to leave for our first trip to Italy and are finishing up our details. We are taking a train from Naples to Florence and need to get from there to a villa we are renting in Castlenuovo Berargdenga. We have heard about the bus, but are hoping to simplify by renting a private car (we are traveling with 2 children....). Does anyone recommend a car rental? I have seen agencies online but haven't seen many reviews of specific companies. Thank you!!
Have you asked your landlord about this ?
She has car rentals at her villa for us to use, and she told us she would pick us up from the Siena bus station. We were just hoping to get easily to her rental.
if she is willing to pick you and your family up, why not do that? Unless you have driven in Italy before and understand the traffic laws etc. probably worth letting her pick you up and she can explain how things work.
Have a great trip! We stayed in that area a few years ago and loved it. Rented a car in Florence (Hertz), drove down and then to Orvieto.
Take the train from Naples to Rome Tiburtina station, walk 200 meters and get on the Rome-Siena bus. Easier, cheaper and faster than renting a car out of Florence ZTL and driving back towards Siena for 80 kms.
