My SNCF e-tickets say, in the small print, that they must be printed on white a4 paper, which apparently is just a slightly different (metric) size from our regular 8.5 X 11 paper. Has anyone ever had a problem with SNCF tickets printed on regular white printer paper? TIA
The size difference is marginal. No problem.
Yes, just use 8 1/2 by 11. Compare it to the pdf and you will see nothing is missing, except maybe the logo of the software company that supplied the ticketing technology to SNCF.
I printed ours on our regular paper in April and no one said a word to us about them.
Harriet,
You can also download the SNCF app on your smartphone & you can access your tickets that way as well :-)
Enjoy your trip!
Edit: I also printed all my tickets on standard (8.5" x 11") printing paper, but ended up using my phone most of the time!
harriet,
I've never had any problem printing tickets on 8.5 x 11" paper. There's only a small difference in the size.
I also did just fine printing the ticket on 8.5 x 11 paper.
The concern may be the barcode. The A4 and 8.5x11 is close enough that when printing to fit paper, the scale change should not be too drastically different to invalidate the scan. If you want to make sure, print one version without changing scale (i.e. "actual size") and another copy to "fit".
Many thanks for everyone's helpful advice. Here's what I finally did. Printing my tickets on regular 8.5 X 11 paper shrank the square bar codes a little. Printing "actual size" on regular paper (even selecting A4 on the printer settings) cut off the bottom square bar code. Since A4 paper is 8.27" X 11.7", I used legal size (8.5" X 14") paper, "actual size", and color print. Perfect! Somewhat wide margins at top and bottom (who cares?), but everything printed out fully. For safety, I printed 2 copies!
