Prague to Normandy

We need to get from Prague to the Normandy beaches. Ideas on best way to manage this? If it includes an overnight in Paris, could use some hotel suggestions. Also hotels in the Normandy beach area?

Smart Wings and easyJet are budget airlines that have morning non-stop flights from Prague to Paris. Take the train from Paris to Bayeux.

sherry,

To add to Tim's comments, it appears that EasyJet only offers one evening flight per day, so you'd have to spend one night in Paris if you book with them. SmartWings has three flights per day (at least on the current schedules), so that would probably be the best option. I normally prefer EasyJet, but in this case the timing doesn't work well.

Both airlines use CDG, so the most direct route to reach Gare St. Lazare appears to be RER "B" from the airport to Gare du Nord. From there follow the signs to RER "E" (direction Hausmann Saint-Lazare) and take the train to the end of the line. When you arrive, walk up to the Saint Lazare train station.

For the "Normandy beach area", I'd suggest staying in Bayeux as it's very central to the sights. If you're planning to visit the D-Day historic sights, they're spread out and not easy to get to without a car. Therefore, you'll either need to take one of the excellent local tours (which provide transportation) or rent a car. I'd recommend one of the tours as they're excellent and you'll learn far more than by just wandering around on your own. If you decide to stay in Bayeux, there's an excellent WW-II Musuem there and of course the famous Bayeux Tapestry.

For hotels you might have a look at the Churchill Hotel.

Happy travels!

EasyJet has a morning flight on the arbitrary day of the week I chose. However, further checking shows only evening flights on some days and no flights at all on other days. It looks like Smart Wings is your best option.
