Uhm, you look at a map, figure out that D3 takes you all the way from Prague to the Austrian border just 30km from Linz. Total driving time is 3 3/4 hrs. D3 is a free motorway. Gas is cheaper in Austria than it is in Czechia.
According to Czech Rail, the one way fare from Prague to Horní Dvorište, is 282Kc or about €10,50, so round trip for the Czech part should be about €21. According to Austrian Rail, the fare from Summerau, 6 km across the border from Horní Dvorište, is €11,60, so the total round trip fare, if you bought the Czech ticket from Czech Rail and the Austrian ticket from Austrian Rail would be about €44. The fare might be less if you bought the entire ticket in the Czech Republic.
According to Via Michelin, fuel for the round trip would be about €46. If you had to pay for a rental car on top of that, I'm sure the train would be less expensive, even for two people.
