Prague to Interlaken

I will be a first time traveler in Europe this summer and want to go from Prague to Interlaken, Switzerland. I'm hoping to see as much of the Alps en route as I can, and would like to arrive in Interlaken before nightfall. I assume a combination of air and rail makes the most sense in terms of time and cost. Am I correct? What route would you take?

Thank you so much!

There is a new direct night train that goes from Prague to Basel Switzerland (14 hour journey); from Basel you can take a train direct to Interlaken (2 hours away). It leaves Prague 8:25pm arrives Basel 10:37am. For booking info head over to the City Night Line site:

Another option would be to fly from Prague to Zurich, then catch the train from there.

During the summer in Europe, sundown is quite late (sometimes not until 10 pm or later), so your chances of seeing the Alps before nightfall are good... if the weather cooperates.
