I'm going from Prague to Budapest in early April. I'm considering either a night-train or flying on Malev Airlines. I'd like comments from fellow travelers who have gone by either method. Thanks so much.
About 10 years ago, I took a night train from Prague to Budapest. I'm not a big fan of night trains, but I had not planned in advance and at that time the train was 1/4 the cost of the flight. My passport was checked 5 times at border crossings (leaving Czech, arriving Slovakia, leaving Slovakia, arriving Hungary, and I have no clue who that 5th guy was). Now since all of these countries are EU members, I'm assuming you won't be awoken at the border crossings. The pros of the night train are that you save a night's hotel cost. The con is that you might not get much sleep.
2 years ago flew Malev from Budapest to Prague, no problem, was a prop communter, took about 1 hour, was on time and easy.
