I will be traveling from Leipzig to Prague and arriving at the Nadrazi Holesovice station in mid September. I've been told that there are ATM machines there but that they give large bills and that coins are needed for the metro. Anyone know how to get change for the metro? Also is there a Senior fare and do I need another ticket for my suitcase.
Whenever I need to make change from larger bills, I head over to one of the newsstands and buy a candy bar or soft drink.
It has been a few years since I took a train from Berlin to Prague Holesovice station, but seem to remember there was a ticket window which we bought our metro passes. It was near the small elevator that you take down to the metro inside the train station. Sometimes you can buy tickets at the tabak if the ticket window is closed. Personally, I hate messing with those ticket machines as a few have eaten my money. I go to CZ every year and always have some kourna with me to use right away & avoid the machines so didn't run into the issues folks have posted, but I do remember seeing ATMs at the station. Here is a link I found with some station info. http://www.livingprague.com/stations.htm .
We just went through the station in June. There are a ton of little stands selling water, snacks and papers. Just pick up a little something while you're there and you'll get the change you need.
