Prague Excursion Pass

I will be traveling with a eurail pass, but that does not include Prague. If I will be traveling from Germany to Prague and then from Prague to Austria, am I better off buying the Prague Excursion Pass for around $70 or is it cheaper to just pay for the Czech portion of the trip each way when I'm on the train?
Thanks!

Most train connections from Bavaria to Praque cross the border at Furth im Wald. If, while you are still in Germany, you buy a ticket (2nd class) from Furth to Prague, it will cost you €18,70. Tickets from other crossings will cost a similar amount if purchased in Germany. If you can buy your ticket from Czech Rail at the border, it will cost about half that.

A ticket for the fastest, most expensive train (SC 75 Smetana) I could find from Prague to Breclav (whick is less than 10 minutes from the Austrian border on the way to Vienna), purchased in Prague, costs 500 Kc (about €17,80). So, the equivalent of a Prague excursion pass will cost no more than €36,50 (about $50).

You decide.

Justin, I had the SAME question a few months ago. They just introduced a German-Czech pass, and it was only about $40 more for our 6 day pass as opposed to the Germany only pass. After doing the math, it was a bit cheaper and EASIER than having to buy the Czech tickets.
