We are going to Portugal for the first time next spring and are spending 3 days in Lisbon and 3 days in the Algarve . We are staying in Lagos. My question is this. We have rented a car in Lisbon to drive to the coast. Is this the best way to see all of the different areas of the Algarve???
It's about the only way.
It'd be nice if you could swing a little more time in Portugal. It's a place heavy on history and culture, and you're possibly cutting it short. I think it's about 170 miles down to the Algarve Region from Lisbon. Unfortunately, Portugal is not the most auto friendly place to visit.
My niece owns an ocean front condo down there, and they fly down from London to Farro for vacations. Note: EasyJet.com flies very inexpensively there from London.
We went to Portugal and Spain last May and June,(11 days in Portugal and 38 days in Spain) and we plan to go back and spend more time in Lisbon and more time in Portugal. We liked Spain and saw a lot of it, but,we found the Portuguese much more friendly and loved the way you sit a tables in restaurants in Lisbon with lots of other people. Then we went down to Tavira and loved the little town and it's homeyness. We saw a lot in Spain but, we don't feel like we need to go back, not so with Portugal.
