Hi, I have about a week to spend in Portugal, plan to fly in and out of Lisbon, stay there a few days, one of the days going by train to Sinta. We want to get a rental car in Lisbon for 4 days or so but can't decide with the short time we have to concentrate on central Portugal, head up as far north as Porto, or just head south towards Algrave?
If you head north, there are some nice, interesting towns to visit - - Obidos, Coimbra, Batalha, Nazare. There is a very good Roman archaeological site near Coimbra, just outside the village of Condeixa Nova. We didn't go inland, so I can't comment on any of the places away from the coast. The Algarve is mostly beaches and highrise hotels. You live in Florida. Do you need to travel thousands of miles for that?
