We had purchased train tickets and reservations for our student group of 21 persons from Milano Centrale to Brig Switzerland. We purchased seat reservations in order to be guaranteed a seat (no surprise there). When our train arrives we go to our specified car to load our luggage and get into our seats as usual. However, there was a group of 6 or 7 senior citizens from Australia occupying our seats and blocking our loading. They originally had our same seat number reservations on a DIFFERENT train from Milano Centrale to Brig, but changed their ticket to be on our train...they did NOT purchase new seat reservations. They insisted their original reservations were still valid on our train. They refused to move, caused chaos during loading of our train, we tried to explain how the reservations worked and finally they begrudgingly relented AFTER the train pulled out and we just had to throw all of our luggage into the aisles and the students had to climb over everybody else who had been disrupted because of this one group of people who didn't understand how reservations worked.
Please please please take the time to understand BEFORE you disrupt someone else's well planned and executed trip.
These people moved to some vacant seats on the next car, but were soon booted out of those seats too, again begrudgingly, because those seats were also reserved by somebody else. What a needless stressful situation they made for lots of other travelers just because they didn't understand and refused to listen to explanation....and language was not the issue because we all spoke English.
