I am travelling to London(4N)-Amsterdam(3N)-Bruges(1N)-Brussels(1N)-Paris(5N) from July 31-August 14, alone. Checked this website for fair calculation, seems Eurostar is not much advantage to get in compare to point-to-point ticket for this particular itinerary, is it right?
Also, has anyone taken the overnight Dutch Flyer train and ferry from London to Amsterdam? Seems like quite a good option. Any thoughts?
Not sure I understand your question. The Eurostar is the train that goes between London and Paris or Brussels. The pricing varies by how early the ticket is purchased. Earlier --- cheaper.
Maybe you mean Eurail as opposed to Eurostar, the London to Paris or Brussels train.
Check out www.seat61.com for all of your train questions. We've used that site for years and have saved lots money frustrations, and time.
Nowadays point-to-point tickets are usually cheaper than passes if you can buy in advance. For your specific journeys:
London-Amsterdam: Bookings for the all-rail option open 120 days in advance. Compare what fares are available at www.eurostar.com, www.b-europe.com, and www.nsinternational.nl. All are official. Also consider flying, as all-rail takes almost five hours. The Dutch Flyer depends on whether you'll be able to sleep on the ferry.
Amsterdam-Bruges: Bookings open 2-4 months in advance at www.b-europe.com
Bruges-Brussels: Book on the day as there are no cheap advance fares or seat reservations on Belgian domestic trains. Alternatively, consider staying in one of these cities for two nights, as they are close together and switching hotels is an extra hassle.
Brussels-Paris: Book at www.thalys.com
