Hello! We are planning a trip to Italy this fall and wondering which is the best online resource for planning train trips? I have been using raileurope.ca and trenitalia.com but both are returning different times for the same departure day/ location. Are these both based on two different train lines, or is one more accurate than the other? Or is there a better resource out there? Many thanks! :)
The best site for train schedules all over Europe is the German Rail website. The Italian Rail website, www.trenitalia.com, is a good site for Italy. RailEurope only shows schedules for trains for which they sell tickets online, and they only sell the fastest, most expensive trains, and not all of them. There are a lot more.
Lee is correct. I think bahn.de is easier to use for schedules but you cannot purchase ticket for Italy through them. Trenitalia.com works well so use them for your purchases. Rail Europe is travel agency and IMO should be avoided but they do provide a convenient service for those bit more nervous about rail travel in Europe.
