We have a British Air flight into Heathrow and a connecting British Air flight 75 minutes later out of the same terminal. What happens if we miss the second flight? We know there is another British Air flight later in the day to our same destination. What does the airline "owe" us for a missed flight?
If the two flights are part of the same "ticket", they will put you on a later flight free of charge; it's possible you may have to connect to another city on a partner airline. If they can't get you on to another flight (unlikely), they'll put you up in a hotel, until the next day.
Thank you for the information. From other peoples' experiences, what are the chances we'll actually make the second scheduled flight? The Brit. Air website seems to say we have to go through security before going to the second flight, but a Brit. Air representative told us that is incorrect.

I can't tell you for sure which is correct -- the website or the BA rep -- but I can tell you that, a few years ago, I almost missed my connection to Athens after landing at Heathrow, because of security lines between terminals. When I got off the flight from San Francisco, I had to go through security to get to the other terminal where the connecting flight was. It was terribly slow and I just barely made the connection.
Since you are going all the way on BA (my connection was on another airline), maybe your flight will leave from the same terminal as your arrival and you won't have to go through security?
If you do have to go through security, I would say that 75 minutes at Heathrow might not be enough time.
Good luck.
You will have to go through security. Whenever you connect from any international flight (at any airport) you have to go through the security screening again.
In our experience, BA has been good at helping if you're in danger of missing your flight. Grab an employee and explain the situation. Last time through LHR we got into the "Fast Track" by showing that our connecting flight was leaving soon.
