We will be using various trains in Italy and I was wondering if we will need pictures for the ticket. I was told by someone that when you buy train tickets you need a 2x2 picture of yourself for it, is this true? Is it for every time you buy a ticket? Maybe they were talking about the eurail pass. We will just be using the P2P. I haven't heard this so just checking. Thanks

As Michael said, just cash or credit card. You'll save time, BTW, if you use the automated kiosks in most stations (they have an english menu).

Except for the possible exception of the Eurostar through the Chunnel between England and France, there are absolutely no security measures on any train. It's like you local bus system. You just buy your ticket and get on.
