I want to take a trip to Rome with my daughter in June. I'm shocked to find that airfare to Rome is around $1400. I do have some flexibility on dates but the price seems to hover around that much. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get a lower airfare??? I'm also not opposed to purchasing hotel with air or even a tour. It just seems that airfare is a killer right now. Thanks.
Check airberlin.com, who I think is starting service to the DL from Baltimore in July. You can then connect to FCO.
I wouldn't hold out too much hope for fares going down as fuel is really moving in the oppisite direction.
Rising fuel prices, unrest with the Iran political situation and airline consolidation has near future European fares in an uproar. Get copies of the New York and Philadelphia Sunday newspapers, and see what's being advertised in the Travel sections. I checked Kayak.com, and reasonable air fares up in the Fall are being quoted only about one or two days per month. Sometimes you've just got to be willing to pay the price if you don't have time to wait for a better fare. Good luck in your hunt!
If you wanted cheaper air fares you should have gone in08. You are flying peak time and paying peak fares. 1400 isn't bad. Have seen fares closer to 1700. Can you go in sep or Oct?
Hi kathy. I see air from New York to Rome in June is around $1000. Can you train / bus / get a ride to New York? Might be worth it to save $800 on airfare...? Enjoy your trip!
Hi Kathy, Have you tried searching on Kayak.com? How flexible are you on travel dates? I am seeing a few fares for about $1197.
Thanks for the suggestions. I'll keep looking although now I'm leaning toward going to Quebec City due to the expense of airfare.
