Pesky one hour CDG layover

Our AirFrance itinerary gives us only one hour to get from our Seattle to CDG flight to the CDG to Barcelona flight. I've seen references to this on the internet dating way back so they've been doing it for a while. We change terminals, from 2E to 2F. The next flight is 3 hours later, and we are prepared to wait for that one and hoping there will be seats available. Anyone with experience?

2E and 2F are within spitting distance of each other. Go for it. If you don't make it, AF will have to do something about it - - which is probably sticking you on that next flight.

You go through immigration as you exit into the arrival terminal, walk down the connecting concourse and into the departure terminal, and go through security. The whole deal only takes a few minutes.

Thanks, Ed. You are so right on. Every fiber in my being says "No, No! It can't be done!" but my wallet says "yes, yes! It's a good fare! Go for it!"

We did this exact hula and Air France had a gate agent waiting for several of us to escort us to the next terminal. it can be done without an agent too, we have done it.

Amazingly, CDG is quite pleasant and efficient as a transit airport. Now, as a departure airport it is a different story...

We thought we would never make our flight change on Air France to Rome a few years ago. Our plane from Philadelphia was late getting into CDG, and we needed to make a plane to Rome. Luckily we were using Air France for both flights. I don't know if they do this all the time, but when we got off the plane a girl was holding up a sign saying Rome. They put us on a bus and whisked us to customs and then back on the bus to another terminal and has us "RUN" to security. Put us at the front of line in security and then "RUN" to our boarding gate (I didn't even have time to put my shoes back on.) We made it on the plane, but our luggage did not. Our luggage arrived the next evening at our Rome hotel, but some people did not make the plane and other people I heard never got their luggage. Luckily I had put a Tag on our luggage with the name, address, and phone number of our hotel in Rome.

Thanks Ed, we have 2 hours between our arrival at CDG and our plane on to Barcelona. I can finally relax. We changed planes at CDG on our way back to LAX last time but since we were already in France (from Nice) we didn't have to go through immigration.

I've made a connection at CDG in an hour, too, but I think your attitude of knowing that you might miss it is a good one. First, that Seattle flight parks remotely--I've never pulled up to a gate on that flight, but instead had to wait for a shuttle, wait for the shuttle to fill up, then take the 10 minute ride to the terminal. Second, you need to clear immigration, which means a line. Third, of course, your inbound AF flight could be late--my last 2 have been. But, another 3 hours isn't bad. I didn't book a flight with an hour layover for this fall because my next option was 7 hours later, but I probably would have had it been 3. But, like others said, AF is great about stationing agents to make sure people make their connections. I had an hour connection on an outbound CDG-SEA flight in October, and there were 4 agents in the security line yelling, "Seattle? Seattle?" to make sure we all got through on time.
