Hello I am haveing trouble finding a good train connection from Peschiera del Garda to Frankfurt. I have found it to be 10 to 13 hours.
I want to leave early in the morning July 12. thanks stewart
And can anybody find a price for this trip. The German site show 4 options and only gave one price. The other prices were not availble. why would the other options not be available?
thanks
You are having trouble finding a connection with fares, because German Rail only gives fares for German trains with one end in Germany. The train you see goes from Milan to Munich via Verona, and just happens to stop in Peschiera del Garda. Peschiera del Garda is close to Verona. There are four trains a day that go over Brenner Pass to Verona, and you can find fares from Verona for those trains. Use Verona to Frankfurt to find the lowest discount fare, and expect to buy an Italian Rail ticket from Peschiera del Garda to Verona.
Thanks Lee I appreciate that. I was having a lot of anxiety over this. so I can take the German train from Verona to Frankfurt? I am coming into Peschiera del Garda via Milan. As Iwant to see Milan
why is it that (I guess this is the German site.) Hardly any trains go back to Milan but they leave Milan to Peschiera del Garda every hour? I thought the German site was the best for all routes? Is there a good Italian web site to find the times to Verona? Thanks Stew
Trenitalia will show you the Italian trains. Peschiera del Garda tp Verona takes about 15 minutes and costs 2,40 euros.
The current schedule ends in early June. Italian Rail hasn't completely loaded the summer schedule into the data base yet. Often this time of year you will find only international trains shown between Italian cities. Expect he new schedule to be pretty close to the current one. Although the schedule on the Bahn is normally the best for all of Europe, the Bahn rarely shows fares for trains entirely outside Germany, such as trains going only from Milan to Verona.
Lola, right now all Trenitalia shows for that date are a few ES*city trains (plus the EC to Munich), 2nd class fare is €9.
I didn't look for that particular date (July 12) because, as you know, the schedules are not complete for dates in July. Also, they don't show regional trains that far out. The price I gave is for the regional train which runs frequently between Peschiera and Verona. That will not change between now and July. There is no need to take the 9 euro ES "Frecciarosso" train for a 15-minute ride.
Hi So I will concentrate on booking a train from Verona to Frankfurt. I should be able to buy a ticket at the station in Peschiera del Garda for Verona. sounds like the trains are very regular to verona. I just want to get to Frankfurt at a decent time. Would this be my best option to get to Franfurt via Verona?
I thought of going via Milan? thanks
The connection from Verona to Frankfurt has a change of trains in Munich. If you take the 8:22 connection you will get into Frankfurt Hbf at around 6 PM. You can book that connection all the way from Peschiera to Frankfurt, probably for no more than Verona to Frankfurt, and you would avoid the connection in Verona. If you book one of the following ECs from Verona to Frankfurt, it looks like you can safe up to €40, but those connections get into Frankfurt later. I also see connections via Milan and Basel to Frankfurt in about the same time duration. You can't book as much of that connection from DB, but you might be able to on Swiss Rail, www.sbb.ch.
Have you looked into flying from Verona to Frankfurt? Might be a few more euro but it'd be a lot faster. And in the end, I doubt it would cost a whole lot more than a train. A quick Expedia search showed a flight on July 12 that cost only $148.
