Perugia to Assisi Bus service

I will be traveling to Italy in late September. I am planning on adding a day trip to Perugia with a short excursion to Assisi. I have not been able to determine which bus route I would need to take between the two cities. I would like to know so I can work out the rail schedule so little time is wasted. Could anyone assist me on this??? Thanks

Bus will take 50-55 minutes, while train takes only 20-25 minutes plus a short bus ride up the hill. Trains run about hourly and cost only EUR 2.05 for 2nd class. Train might be your better bet.

When we were in Perugia last Sept, the TI had the schedules for bus and train service to Assisi. They strongly advised us to use the train for our trips to Gubbio and to Spoleto, but to take the bus to Assisi as the train station is way down below the town of Assisi and requires another connection (bus) into the town. We followed their advice and it worked well for us. How you obtain this in advance of your arrival, however, I do not know. I just googled Perugia Assisi bus...lots of hits; you might try this approach. If you train into Perugia and tour that town do inquire into the mini metro..a very easy way to get up into Perugia from their train station. Have fun..and get some Perugia chocolates.
