My sister just applied 13 Sept for her passport - did it at a Post Office, it's a new, never had one, and as we have tons of time before our trip, so she did not expedite at all. She got it today. So not too shabby in the least, just over 6 weeks!

I think the back log is generally gone. I think six weeks for new is about average. Six months ago it was about four weeks for our renewal.

Go ahead and enter an event on the calendar to renew about six months before expiration.
