I understand guidance to have names match. But what about this scenario: name on passport is John Lee Doe, name on ticket is John L. Doe. Or vice versa. Anyone have had this happen? Anyone had success getting airline to change name on ticket?
Thanks for any input.
Your documents should have John as firstname and Doe as lastname on both documents. The middle doesn't matter. My passport has my middle name but I never use it to book tickets.
Thanks. I understand now that this is not the airlines issue, just TSA and watch list.
When purchasing international air travel, why not just provide your complete name matching your passport name?
A few weeks ago I was at Dulles and sauntered over to the new TSA sign up office to ask about middle names.
I was told that if your ID has your middle name, you don't need to have the full middle name on your ticket but they'd prefer you have at least the middle initial. However the first and last names must match.
You'll be fine.
