Passport Control/IT London

Hello, all,

I have traveled London-Paris via Eurostar countless times, but never flown between London and Paris (CDG or ORY). My question is this: IF we're connecting in London (LHR) onward to Paris, will the passports get stamped (I'm assuming so, because French BA and UKBA do on the Eurostar.) in London and again in Paris, or just London?

Thanks,

Peter

More than one of us here have experienced not getting a stamp upon flying into Paris, so you may have to ask for it.

If it is all in the same airport (LHR), and you have one through ticket for both legs, what should happen is that you stay "Airside" in LHR (sort of in limbo, you will never legally enter the UK), and your passport is first checked and stamped in Paris.
As most of the passengers London to Paris are EU citizens (whose passports do not get stamped), if French immigration is a bit lax they may, as Laura says, not notice you as the one exception.
Your luggage should be forwarded to Paris, you will not see it at LHR and you will go through customs for entering the EU in Paris. Your luggage tags will show your bags came from outside the EU.

If you do not leave Heathrow, your passport will not be stamped as you are just in transit.

I was connecting through Heathrow to Zurich and was surprised that even though I was kept in a "secure" part of the airport I still had to go through the British version of the TSA before boarding my flight. There were plenty of Ziploc bags on offer and they were quite polite.

Thanks to everyone who replied. I think, also in figuring price differences between flights, that we might go rt to LHR, rather than open jaw. Plus, it would give the kids a day or so in London (My daughter and wife would love to have tea.) and experience the Eurostar (A novelty for a 7 and a 3 year old.).

Cheers and safe travels to all,

Peter
