Does anyone know of a website where I can book (or at least research) passenger van rentals in Ireland? We've got a family group of 11 going over in June. We can take 2 cars if we have to, but I'd like to know what my options are.
Do a search for "auto rental Dublin" or the terminal you fly into.
If you don't find the info you require, use the toll free phone number to talk with an agent.
If it were me, I'd prefer two vehicles for the group. In Ireland, the smaller the vehicle, the better -- the roads are narrow in a lot of places. Two vehicles would also give you the option of separating whiny kids, or letting part of the group do something different than the others. And I speak from experience when I say that you sometimes need a break from the rest of your group! My daughter and I traveled with my sister and her family, but we had separate cars. At tense parts of the trip, it was great to separate the cousins and let everyone vent to themselves about the other family. :)
Well, I don't know about Europe, but here you have to have a class 4 licences to drive the bigger 10+ passenger vans..
I have driven in Ireland before, and had some close side mirror scrapes on narrow roads with walls on either side (or a wall on one side and a cliff on the other). You make a good point.
