Partial JFK AirTrain Closure

The hunk of the AirTrain between Terminals 1 and 4 is closed, and will remain so for months. They'll be running a shuttle bus instead. This would affect those who, for instance, are connecting Air France and Delta flights, who might want to budget more time for the connection. Official announcement and a brief FlyerTalk discussion linked below.

There is nothing between Terminals 1 & 4 as 2 & 3 are gone. This will definitely affect those connecting at JFK for Air France & Delta. I cannot stress enough even if there were air train service between terminals 1 & 4 NOT TO CONNECT AT JFK. It is a nightmare because the Airtrain is outside of security. Now that one must rely on a shuttle bus between terminals 4 & 1 further underscores NEVER to connect at JFK.

The closure of part of the AirTrain is a huge disappointment. However, JFK is an excellent airport and it continues to improve. The Delta terminal is wonderful providing an all in one experience for Delta to Delta connections. Air France’s terminal is convenient. I’ve not had the opportunity to use the other terminals yet other than pass through via the AirTrain. Changing terminals for connections require movement through non secure area thus requiring TSA security checks. If your travel is exclusive to just one terminal or is still accessible by the transportation system to other terminals it remains an excellent airport to use. I have at least six flights planned into and out of this airport through the end of the year with plans to utilize AirTrain.
