Parking garages in Prague

Does anyone have any experience parking in Prague? Can anyone recommend any parking garages there? Or the park and rides outside the city?

Sorry, cannot recommend based on personal experience. But there is a lot of information if you google the title of your question.

Have no personal experience parking in Prague as I have never been willing to take a car there....some rental agencies will not allow cars to enter the Czech republic. Friends were recently in Prague with a rental car and they paid a young man to guard the car overnight as they were so concerned about vandalism.

I've got personal experience. There are two car parks by the InterConti hotel in the old Jewish quarter down by the river. That's also where the Paris Street begins, the main shopping street leading to the old town square. Also from there you can cross the river to climb up to that giant Metronome from where you can get an excellent first overview of the city. Parking was easy, they accepted Czech crowns cash or credit and debit cards. The car was perfectly save. Then again I saw all those Mercedeses, BMWs, Porsches etc. parked in the streets and they all seemed fine, too. My personal conclusion is that parking in the streets of Prague is as save or dangerous as parking in any other Western European city. But of course holding a valid underground car park ticket might come in handy in a worst case scenario...

This is what I answered on Kirstin's question...The park and ride lots are not secure at all. You might as well post a "steal me" sign on the car if you park there over night. Find out if your hotel has secure parking & reserve a spot. The best thing to do is bite the bullet and drive into town. Believe me, it is very expensive and time consuming if your rental car is broken into or stolen.

Hi Betsy
I have the same question. I will have a rental car while in prague but will not need to take it into the city at all if anyone has some suggestions about secure overnight parking? I here that you can park overnight in the park and rides for 100CZK but was wondering if anyone has done this and/or knows how safe it is?

Kirstin-- we ended up not driving in because of warnings, hassles and expense. I did check out the Intercontinental hotel website for the parking info and I believe they do offer public parking.

We were staying in Most, CZ and it only cost us $6 (100 crowns) each way in and out of Prague by bus. The public transportation system is very good there.

And Prague is AMAZING!
