Parking at Boston Logan Airport?

Fares are looking pretty good from Boston these days, but the airport parking costs are outrageous. Has anybody found any reasonable, acceptable, off-airport options?

Uber
(seriously with the cost of parking it is rare that using Uber both ways will not be cheaper)
Of course there are more reputable car services as well as Logan Shuttle buses

Also, done a park and fly package from one of the hotels often in the Revere area which you stay 1 night either to start or end the trip and in return can park your car free in their lot ; this also includes free shuttle service to the airport. A good deal overall usually cheaper than parking but depends on the hotel how great the shuttle is. Park Sleep Fly.com I believe is the site.

There is the off site lot Logan lot I know people use but rate is really not that much better there, you can find coupons that help a little.

Not sure the town you are coming from? If you don't care for Uber ; I have walked to a hotel close by and then used Super Shuttle based on that hotel since they don't care if you are staying in the hotel and if you take a shared ride the costs can be low.

Thanks. I'll check out parksleepfly.com. We would be coming up from NC. To some destinations, tickets out of Logan are 500-600 cheaper than fares out of Charlotte. For two people that savings would more than offset the costs of getting to Boston.

Wouldn't Atlanta have more competitive flights than Boston (and is closer to you)? Not sure where you're going in Europe, but did you see Turkish Air?

Surprised the rates are that great from Boston, curious which airline:
Maybe Norwegian?
I flew Norwegian a couple of weeks ago to Italy and the rate was great, as was the Dreamliner airplane used and level of service. No complaints at all other than the main issue that most all their flights go to Oslo first and have a very long layover in Oslo.

DC or NYC is closer to you and I would think be competitive with Boston but maybe not.
In your case, Uber not a good answer, but the ParkSleepFly thing may make sense for you. I have not tried this but if you need to park longer or something different than their standard option I imagine you could use the site to see which hotels participate and then email the hotel directly with your needs rather than going through their site.
I have only used this service twice and both times it was because we had a really early AM flight out of Boston ; flying to the Caribbean but worked out very well. My comment about the hotel's shuttle is because not all participating hotels have a 24 hour shuttle and you don't want to book one with a shuttle that starts at 5 AM if you have to be at Logan at 4 AM obviously. More of a concern with early AM flights than any likely flight or arrival to/from Europe.

The other option that would take some research if you are driving up. Find a schedule for a bus to Logan ; or one that stops at South Station first and continues without changing to Logan and see where the different stops are.
Think there are a few lines/companies like: P-B.com, Logan Express, Boston Express, Peter Pan, etc...
Once you are roughly 20 miles out from Boston there are some bus parking lots which are free to leave your car for multiple days/week, etc...
You could park there and then take the bus cheaply to and from Logan. They have good storage under the bus for luggage.
Probably would not do over the winter with the chance of snow but otherwise most of the suburb towns are safe and as long as you don't leave any valuables visible the car should be reasonable in a safe spot for free parking or at least as safe as anywhere else that is unmanned and maybe unlit at night. Some risk involved.
I know a couple of good bus stops where I have left a car for weeks but neither are on your driving route so would not be good options for you, Exit 5 off of Rt. 3 between Boston and Cape Cod is a great one, is a P-B bus stop with a 24hr McDonalds and a huge free parking lot but imagine on your route you could find something similar just need to be far enough away from Boston to have free parking but close enough that bus service goes there. Any lot that also services as a rail station parking lot will charge.

Hi, folks. I'm looking at next May to London, and the fares are insanely low, but are filling up fast. Delta from BOS to LHR is $556 for the main cabin. From ATL to LHR on the same dates the fare is over $1700. We rarely find ATL to be competitive anymore. Washington Dulles is our fall back airport. The same route is a little over $1,000. On one occasion we drove up to Montreal. Air France is always a bargain from there, but most of the time Dulles is competitive enough that the savings won't cover the extra ground transportation expense.

Good suggestions about offsite parking in Boston. I'm going to follow up on that, but I'm going to be too late if I don't act soon.

I went on http://matrix.itasoftware.com to do a reality check. I plugged in some fake dates - May 8 - May 19:

  • IcelandAir from IAD to LHR = $554.
  • Delta and Virgin Atlantic (same airports) = $568

I don't think you need to drive all the way to Boston to get a good fare when there are at least 2-3 competitive airline markets on the way: DC region, NYC, and Philly.

Wejust completed a 3 week trip to Spain and Portugal using Norwegian from BOS; Our RT fare on SW from BWI to BOS for 2 was $254, while the RT on Norwegian was under $1350 for 2, so total was about $750 each; the Norwegian fare included bags and meals, so I'm sure some would do it cheaper. Our advantage was we have Daughter & Son-in-Law who live near DC so we drove from WS in NC left the car and used Uber to BWI. Flight went Boston to Gatwick to Madrid going, Barcelona to Copenhagen to Boston on the return, under 2 hour connection each way.

Check the Aer Lingus website directly (they would fly to London via Dublin or Shannon, from Boston, JFK, Newark, Dulles, and Orlando, but not necessarily every day). I got a great price this way, better than shown on Kayak. Be careful, though: my outgoing flight left from EWR and my return flight landed at JFK. This was fine for me, but wouldn't work for you since you have to retrieve your car and drive home.

If I was driving from NC I would go with the hotel that does one of the packages..
