Paris transport

We will be flying in to (CDG) on the morning of April 29 and will be taking a train from the Sant Lazare station to Bayeux. What is the easiest way to get from the airport to the train station and how long will this take?

Take the RER B to Gare du Nord, then change to the RER E to Gare St Lazare. If you land on time, get through customs and immigration fairly quickly, you will then have to walk to the RER station. What terminal are you landing at? If at Terminal 1 (United) you will need to take the airport shuttle train to the station. Then you need to buy tickets, the window line could be 15 minutes or longer. You can buy both the RER transfer to St Lazare (9.75 euro if memory serves) and your ticket to Bayeux at the same time. Give it 2 hours if everything goes normal. There is a bit of walking at both the change at Gare du Nord and Gare St Lazare.

Since the OP has asked for the easiest way from the airport to the St Lazare station, obviously a taxi is the answer.

I don't think OP set an upper limit for cost.

The easiest? Hire Norma and her pedicab. The cost? An arm and a leg.

I'd better run away before Norma bites my head off ;-)

I repeat ... The OP specified EASIEST. Transferring from one RER to another with luggage is not the easiest way to get to St Lazare. My pedicab is at her or his disposal. Special rates for Rick Steve's fans.

IMHO, Norma makes a good point: Coming from the airport after a long flight, multiple transfers, dragging all your luggage, are something to consider when deciding what is the easiest way to get from the airport to that train station.

Easiest will be a taxi. If you have relatively little luggage and a map, it will be cheaper to get the non-stop Roissybus to the Paris Opera, which is about ten minutes walk from St Lazare.

We had considered upon our arrival at CDG next week to take the RER B to the Luxembourg stop, then walk to our hotel in the 5th. But then we figured jet lag, unfamiliarity, temps in the 30's and decided to cab it. Hoping it will cost no more than 55-60 Euro.

We will be spending 4 nights in Paris, and although I figure we will take multiple rides on the Metro (probably will use at least two carnet's worth), there just will be times when a taxi works best, like after a leisurely dinner with a killer Cote du Rhone in the 10th. In that case, we will request the maître d' to call a cab for us. Worth the money.
