Depends on your priorities!
The train ride is beautiful... but long! You can fly Marco Polo to Orly in under 2 hours - quite a difference in time and experience!

The quickest train ride you can get from Paris to Venice is 10.5hrs (7:42am train from Paris). Most other runs are 14.0hrs-16.0hrs dependng on the run.
