Paris to Switzerland by train - when to start Swiss Pass?

My wife, kids and I will travel by train from Paris to Interlaken, where we will be for four days. I plan to purchase a Swiss Pass for us.

My question is whether I should buy a point-to-point ticket from Paris all the way to my final destination of Interlaken, or I should buy a point-to-point ticket from Paris only to the first stop in Switzerland, then ride the rest of the way to Interlaken on our Swiss Pass?

Use of a day of the pass isn't an issue because of the few number of days we will be in Switzerland.

Purchase a point to point ticket from Paris to Basel SBB Station (which is just over the border from France), via the TGV-Europe.com website. At Basel station validate your Swiss Pass and board the next direct train to Interlaken. Trains run every 30 minutes or so, no advance reservations needed.

The standard 2nd class fare for a direct Paris-Basel TGV is €90; but if you book well in advance (up to three months allowed) at tgv-europe.com, you can get a discount fare as low as €20. To keep the site in English and to avoid being bumped to the Rail Europe site which doesn't offer discount fares, choose Great Britain as your country of residence. Pick up your tickets at any SNCF station or boutique in France.
