Paris to Murren with Eurail Pass

We're travelling from Paris on 6/28 to Murren, staying three nights and then on to Munich. There are three of us and we already have a five day selectpass to cover France, Switzerland, Germany and Belgium. Which type of pass is recommended to pay for the trip from Interlaken to Murren, travelling around for sight seeing, and from Murren back down to Interlaken when we leave for Munich? Thanks!

Be advised that your Eurail pass will only cover 25% of the fares from Interlaken to Murren. Its zero on the bus system into the valley. 25% discount for any travel to Wengen, the Jungfrau or the Schilthorn. The Jungfraubahn and Schilthornbahn train and gondola systems, albeit part of the overall Swiss rail system, are private railways that have different rules.

The one-way fare from Interlaken Ost to Murren via Grutschalp is 17.20CHF. You might consider paying cash for this part instead of using up a day on your pass.

There is also a Berner Oberland pass described on Rick Steve's Swiss Railpass page. One is good for 3 days of free travel, so if you are going to be riding the trains around a lot and doing the high mountain lifts, you might look into that. He provides a link to their webpage.

The Berner Oberland pass is similar to the regular Swiss pass only its regional. As with Swiss passes, the B.O. pass only provides a 50% discount to the Jungfrau and Schilthorn as well as many other places.

We're probably going to keep our options open based on the weather. We'd love to go to the top, but I don't want to buy a pass if the weather isn't clear. Maybe we'll just pay as we go. Thanks!!
