What is the best transportation method for a day trip from Paris to Mont Saint Michele? Any suggestions on the best things to do while at Mont Saint Michele?

Le Mont Saint Michele like so many other wonderful places is really best experienced in the early morning and / or evening. I would highly recommend finding a way to spend the night if you plan on taking the time to get there. My recommendation would be to rent a car for the day / or two, but pick it up and drop it off outside of Paris.
