Hi all, I'm meeting my daughter in Paris and traveling together to Milan. We need to be in Milan by 10 am. to meet the rest of the family. I have compared the prices/schedules for both train and flight and given the luggage fees, not a lot of difference in price. We will have a very full day once we arrive in Milan - seeing the Duomo and then traveling on to stay the night in Verona. The overnight train is only about 6 hours and I'm concerned we won't get enough sleep. I've never taken an overnight train and not sure how much they 'interrupt' you or if this is a ridiculous notion. Train option also gets us there about 4 hours before the rest of the family. I realize it is up to us, just wondered if anybody had ever done a relatively short overnight and then sightseeing the next day. Thanks very much!!
I love the folks on this board!!
The direct Paris-Milan night train departs at 19:45 and arrives at 05:38 which makes the ride just under 10 hours, not 6 hours. I personally like night trains and sleep well on them, but you might stay awake most of the night and not be in good shape for a day of sightseeing when you arrive in Milan. In your case you might be better off flying easyJet. You can leave CDG at 06:50 and arrive at Malpensa at 08:20. Or leave at 08:30 and arrive at 10:00.
