We are going to Italy for one week and staying in Tuscany. We want to include Paris before/after our Italy visit. We plan on renting a car in Italy but are unsure whether fly or take the train from Paris to Milan. We are planning to go May 2014 or Sept. 2014. Any ideas? please be specific. Thanks!

Please be specific, you say, and yet you tell us you want to include Paris "before/after our Italy visit", you are unsure whether "to fly or take the train to Milan" and you will do all this in either May or September". What exactly should we be specific about?

One specific tip I have is that if you want to fly between Paris and Tuscany, the airports in Pisa and Florence will be closer than those in Milan.
