Paris to Milan by scenic day trains..........

I am hoping to train (not high speed overnighters) through France, Luasanne and down into Milan and then down the eastern side of Italy. I would like to use local trains........ any ideas about training through Luasanne area??? I cant find a simple route and am pretty flexible with where I go.Which route is easiest to navigate? I thought of Paris to Dijion or Lyon and stay for a couple of days and then through Switzerland- I have allocated Monday to Thursday to do this.

First of all, the night trains are not "high speeders", since they must cope with freight traffic. Actually they take 50% longer than the day trains to complete the same journey. Second, there is no point in travelling on local trains when faster ones go on the same rail tracks. If you want some scenic train routes, you can try travelling from Lausanne to Interlaken to Luzern and from there back to Milano again. You could also forego that area, take a train straight from Paris to Bern and Zurich and from there take 2 days to travel to Chur, Davos, St. Moritz, Tirano (Italy) and then Milano from where you follow your route to wherever you are going in Italy.
