Has anyone taken the Francisco de Goya overnight train from paris to Madrid with a family? We have 3 sons, 15 12 and 10 and are wondering about the best way. Would really appreciate any advice!
Trains are great for kids on longer hauls, since they can get up and move around. But how well will they sleep? And I wonder about the price. The cheapest I see is a second-class four-berth compartment (which are segregated by gender) for 70 euro per person....350 Euro in total. And how do you split 5 into 4 (I guess Mom gets stuck by herself, possibly with three roommates!) And since it's at night, there won't be a whole lot to see. Vueling, Easyjet, and Air Europa make that run. Easyjet's charges could be as low as 205 Euro for all 5 of you....and you could leave early and enjoy an extra day in Madrid....or leave in the evening and still enjoy a final day in Paris.
