Eurostar is too expensive. What are my other alternatives to get from Paris to London at a reasonable price?
Check out this web site for traveling by train and ferry info (not sure if cheaper, and takes alot more time and transfers, but you get to see the White Cliffs of Dover, etc) .... http://www.seat61.com/London-Paris-ferry.htm
Try the usual low cost airlines like easyJet. I even found a great deal with Lufthansa that beat the Eurostar price.
Alternatively, consider a coach like Eurolines.
The cheapest way is probably by Eurolines bus. Look at www.eurolines.co.uk. It may not be fast or particularly comfortable, but it may suit your needs.
Daytime journeys take about 9 hours and cost about £36.
Don't forget that a long distance bus is called a coach in Britain.
Don't forget that, with the discount airlines, you'll also have to add in the price of a train or bus ticket to/from the center of London and Paris. If you can book far enough in advance, you can get a one-way Eurostar ticket for as low as 39 pounds...about $60....and you go downtown to downtown.
To get the cheapest Eurostar fare as described by Norm, book ASAP (up to 120 days in advance) at www.eurostar.com.
Amber, think of your time though. It may be worth it to just use Eurostar. From personal experience, when I was there in 07, I decided to fly easyjet from London to Paris because it was alot cheaper than the train. The trip ended up being closer to 6 hours because we wanted to get to Luton at least 2 hours before the flight, then our flight was delayed 1 hour, and then the times spent transporting from our hotel to Luton and then from CDG to our hotel when we got to Paris. Plus there's the 1 hour time difference which actually works in your favor since you're flying Paris to London. Anyway, with the extra time waiting plus the $$$ transporting from hotels to airports, I decided that if I was going to do this again, I would take the Eurostar because time is definitely precious when you're vacationing in Europe. If you take Eurostar, you have easy access to the tube and metro also which cuts down on transport time.
Time is money. If you waste most of a day on 'cheap' transportation, that's one more day you have to factor in just to see what you missed on your next trip.
