Paris to Florence Night Train

I've read some other posts and it appears the way to go is to book through tgv-europe.com using Great Britain as my residence. I have a question, there are 4 of us going, 9/3/2010. Under select your location it says Second Class couchette and T3. I'm assuming for the 4 of us in the same car we would use Second Class couchette?

Thanks!

Actually, even though fares for bunks in a four-person couchette are less than for beds in a three-person sleeper, tgv-europe.com classifies them as 1st class. You'll need to pick 1st class in order to book those tickets.

If you pick 2nd class couchette, you'll get bunks in a compartment for six persons and you'll likely have to share the space with two strangers.

Thanks Tim,, I see that now. If I click first class, I get either First Class double or couchette. Do both of those sleep 4? If they do, that price is 560Eu. If I put in 6 people 2nd class the cost is 330Eu. Can I reserve for 6 people but only 4 of us use it?

Thanks for the quick response. Everything I've read says to make these reservations asap.

You're welcome, Chris.

A double has beds, not bunks, and it only sleeps two--and it's quite expensive.

Since all the discount fare tickets are gone for four-person couchettes on your train, you would indeed save money by booking all six bunks in a six-person couchette, taking advantage of the fact that discount fare tickets are still available in that category.

Why not fly Easyjet from Orly to Pisa? Just checked and the flight on that day is around 50 Euros. Night trains are pretty utilitarian, and I doubt if anyone will get much sleep. You can take the train from Pisa to Florence.

Tim, thanks. Reservations are made! Jerry, we have some friends who did the night train Paris to Rome and they had fun so we thought we'd give it a try. As long as the lounge is open, we're set! Take care.
