Hi All, We are meeting a tour at the Carentan train station on Novmber 27,2013, leaving from Paris. I am buying tickets for 6 this week. We wll by staying in the Marias area at Hotel Castex. Can you tell me the best way to get to the Paris Saint Lazare from Marias Subway to Saint Lazare? Is this correct: Paris Saint Lazare to Carentan? End stop? Is there 2 Saint Lazare stations? Time: leaving Paris Saint Lazare on the non stop 7:07 am, arriving Carentan at 9:37? Which direction? Return trip: Carentan to Paris Saint Lazare departing on the 18:05? Also, I will be traveling with my parents (79yrs old)both are in very good shape with no mobility issues. However, does anyone know if there will be a lot of steps at these station.
Thanks to all for your help with this
Here is a valuable tool for navigating all of the Paris region's mass transit. http://www.ratp.fr/en/ If you learn to use it for the question you posed, you will be ready to make better plans throughout your Paris stay. Unfortunately I don't know if it is much use on the topic of stairs/elevators/escalators, which as you have anticipated can be a genuine problem.
Also helpful is www.parisbytrain.com which is a blog with lots of photos.
Using the aforementioned ratp site, they recommend taking the No 20 bus from Place Bastille to St Lazare station. Its both quickest and no steps other than getting on and off the bus. St Lazare should have escalators to the track level. There is only one St Lazare station and its a terminal so you don't need to worry about the direction, all trains go to their destinations.
Thank you Sam & Southam, I will check out the site and Bus 20 Thanks agian
The 07:07 train makes one stop in Caen on its way to Carentan. I don't know what you mean by "which direction?" The 18:05 train stops in Lison, Bayeux, and Caen on its way to Paris.
Thanks Tim, I want to reserve tickets tonight. Which direction, I meant, end stop. The stops the train makes, is that information on the website? I am reserving on sncf.com. Thanks everyone
The en.voyages web site does not give you train end points or intermediate stops, but you can get that information from the www.bahn.com website by clicking on the train number and you get the entire itinerary for that train, start station, end station and all the intermediate stops. The train does not have to be a German train. They have ALL the information for ALL the trains in Europe (with a few exceptions).
Thanks Sam, that's the information I was looking for
