Hello! I need a train ticket to Cannes from Paris. What is the best way to book for the best price Do I use the SNCF website or just go to the station Many Thanks
Tricia you really should book it as far in advance as you can, 'I am going from Paris to Nice this summer, first class for 40 euros,, you won't find that price now, but you would have if you booked it a few months ago.. so moral of story is, the most expensive tickets are the ones you get by walking up to station. I would check out SNCF and see what is on offer, keep in mind, end of July and beginning of August will be very very busy. As will a return date at end of August.
If you are in the USA the best place to buy French rail tickets online is tgv-europe.com, but you need to claim to be in the UK or Canada and pick your tickets up in France or if possible print them out yourself. If you claim to be in the USA you will get bumped to raileurope.com which often has more expensive fares and less choice of trains.
Thanks Paul! That was the info I was looking for. I just couldn't remember exactly how to do and where I had read that previously. Ideally, of course I would have booked in advance but sometimes thats not possible. Cheers! Tricia
