I have been on the TVG Europe website looking for trains from Paris to Brussels on to Amsterdam on to Berlin. I can't seem to locate a fare for the Amsterdam to Berlin leg. I must be missing something obvious. Our trip isn't until July, but have been looking for fares over the next couple of months to get an idea of point to point prices. Thanks for any assistance.
Hi, The normal fare for the Amsterdam-Berlin leg varies depending on the type of train you take and the transfer stops. If you're going direct (day) on the InterCity train, the fare is 110.40 Euro; going (day) with a change of trains in Duisburg, both legs ICE, is 135 Euro.
Check fares and schedules at the German Rail site: http://rail.de The fares Fred is quoting is the full fare. If you book well in advance (90 day allowed) you can get discount fares for as little as 39 euros.
The TGV Europe site only covers train travel to, from or in France. For journeys involving Germany, as stated, you need to go to the German site at www.bahn.de
As always with trains, look at www.seat61.com and be reassured by its treasure trove of information.
The lowest Amsterdam-Berlin fares are € 39.
