We too are traveling to Bayeux by train after arriving at CDG. Where and how would be proceed? Also we will be returning to Paris and staying near Gare de Lyon ... how would we do this? Thank you for your help.
Here's the easiest way in my opinion:
- A few weeks before you leave, buy train tickets from Paris Saint Lazare to Bayeux on "SNCF Connect". Aim for a 4-hour gap between your scheduled landing time and the train departure time. If it's a bit less it's OK, but don't go below 3:30.
- Take a taxi (follow signs for taxis) from CDG to Gare Saint Lazare at a fixed price of 55 euros.
- Climb the steps up to the station. Your ticket is a QR code these days. Have it ready to pass through the turnstiles.
- Check the train indicators for your train time/number. Final destination of the train is likely to be Cherbourg
- Board the train. I do not remember if seats are assigned on this route, it changed a few times over the years...
Returning to Paris, you should also buy tickets in advance, and once you are back at Gare Saint Lazare, you should follow signs to the metro station, buy tickets, and take line 14 to Gare de Lyon. Faster and cheaper than any taxi.
This is such good advice...thank you!
