Paris to Barcelona, Barcelona to Marseille

Here is a crazy one - we are thinking of spending just a wee bit of time in Barcelona. (Don't ask!)

Does anyone have any information on the Paris to Barcelona overnight train?

And, we are going to Marseille after Barcelona, so any ideas on trains, ferries, etc to that city.

Thanks a bunch. We leave on 6/11, so time is of the essence.

There are two Paris-Barcelona night train choices. Book either one at www.tgv-europe.com. To keep the site in English and to avoid being bumped to the Rail Europe site, choose Great Britain as both your country of residence and the country in which you will retrieve your tickets. You can pick up your tickets at any SNCF station in France, even though you originally chose Great Britain. Book NOW. Don't wait until you get to Paris. Popular night trains can sell out weeks in advance.

Although I prefer trains to planes, I suggest that you consider flying on a budget airline from Paris to Barcelona. You can fly CDG-Barcelona on either easyJet or Vueling. You can fly Orly-Barcelona on Clickair.

You can travel by train from Barcelona to Marseille by taking the "Catalan Talgo" express to Montpellier (which leaves Barcelona around 8:45 am) and changing there. It will probably take the best pat of the day, though.
