Paris Orly Airport to St. Germain

Flying into Orly tomorrow. What is the best way to get to St. Michel train station or better yet Maibillon (closest to our hotel). We have luggage but not a lot and some walking is not a problem. We will be returning to Orly again the next morning after picking up our daughter in Paris so need best way and time it takes to get back as well, hoping the reverse route will work. Are taxi or bus better options? Thank you!

You have the option of two different routes on the RER from Orly to St Michel: either take the OrlyVAL people-mover to Antony station for RER line B or the shuttle bus to Pont de Rungis station for RER line C. Both lines B and C serve St-Michel station. The former is about five minutes shorter than the latter but considerably more expensive. From St-Michel station you can go through an underground passage to the nearby Cluny-La Sorbonne metro station and get Line 10 to Mabillon, for no extra cost.

Thank you! Any idea how long the trip takes? And when returning with three of us and more luggage would a cab be very expensive?

About an hour. Going in, it's going to cost about fifteen bucks each. Heading back, a taxi for three will be almost a wash - - maybe sixty dollars tops. Have the hotel set the cab up for you, that's the only way it will be successful.

I'll suggest routes that differ slightly from those given by Philip. If you take the Orlyval to Antony and the RER B from there into Paris, get off at Denfert-Rochereau and take Metro line 4 to Saint-Germain des Pres. It's a very short walk from there to Mabillon. The total ride will take around 40 minutes and the combined fare is €11.30. The fare for the shuttle bus from the airport to the Pont de Rungis RER station is €2.50. I don't know how long the bus ride is. Take the RER C to Gare d'Austerlitz and then take Metro line 10 directly to Mabillon. The total ride will take around 45 minutes and the fare is €4.10.
