Paris Metro/RER Hours?

I am planning a trip to Paris at the end of the year and will be flying home on New Year's Day (1/1/11). Our flight leaves around 8:30 in the morning. Does any one know if the Metro/RER will have "special" hours on New Year's Day? Will they be open and running early in the morning?
Or is there a better option for getting to the airport? I was also thinking of arranging for a taxi to take us back to the airport? Would that be a safer bet?
I'm very comfortable with both taxis and public transportation and will be packing light for this trip so I'm not concerned about lugging huge suitcases around with me.
My main concern is being able to find a reliable form of transport so early on New Year's Day (probably leaving the hotel around 5, if not earlier).
Thanks!

It's too early right now...but...about 3 months before your trip, go to this website to find the schedule:

RATP Transport.

Over the past few years, the RER ran all night on Dec. 31 and the ride was free up until noon on Jan 1. When you check the schedule later this year, you can find out if this is the case again.

Thanks! I was thinking they (RATP site) wouldn't have information this far out, but I'll definitely check back.

Beyond what time service starts, also keep in mind that what is important is when the first Metro leaves from the stop near your hotel and then how it connects with the RER train. In other words, (Times are complete fiction) if service starts at 4:30, but you cannot get a Metro train at your stop until 5:15, getting to an RER station at 6:00, which has a train at 6:30 that gets you to the Airport at 7:30; then you are probably still too late.

Make sure you know the exact schedule before commiting, otherwise consider a Taxi, but also look into airport shuttles that will pick you up, or even buses that leave from a central location.
