Paris Metro

My wife and I are spending 6 days in Paris. We obviously plan on using the metro system to get around. I need some advice on whether to buy just the book of 10 tickets or a pass. We plan on spending a day at Disneyland and going to Versailles. If it’s the pass, which do we choose?

What day of the week are you arriving on? That greatly impacts the use of a Navigo weekly pass ( a week is not just 7 days but it is a calendar week, Mon-Sun).

If you go with paper tickets be sure to throw away your ticket after it is used (and after your OUT of the Station). In Sept 2017 during a 3 week stay in Paris I twice ran into ticket inspector cops. Not a big deal for me as I was using my Navigo card but it was fun (for those watching) as tourists pulled out a handful of used tickets from their pocket/purse trying to figure out which one they just used to show the cops.

Travel safe,

With those days, then the weekly Navigo Decouverte pass will be ideal, since it includes the RER, which you need to take to both Versailles and DLP.

Yup, buy the weekly Navigo Découverte card. Bring with you a photocopy of each of your driver’s license photos.

You might check out the Disneyland Paris forum on tripadvisor.com, just to make sure you want to spend a day there.

If the OP is a Disney fan, they already know the sites to visit for knowledgeable info and reviews....like the Disboards or wdwmagic. TripAdvisor, in this case, not so much IMO.

@George, your post made me check out the Disneyland Paris TA forum, and it does look like it's become quite the hassle since my teenage visits!
It does look like there's a whole crowd of people who make multiple several-day stays, so I guess appropriate length of stay depends on personal taste.

JTaylor,

I think the Navigo Découverte is the best deal, especially since you plan to be in Paris from Monday - Saturday.
When my daughter and I were in Paris, we got the ND and traveled by Metro and bus all over Paris.
Make sure you take a small (1" by 1.25") photo of yourselves. I just scanned our passport photos and decreased the size before printing.

You can read all about this pass here:Paris by Train

If you plan to go up the Eiffel Tower do book your tickets in advance (usually 60 days in advance!) to avoid a possibly long queue.

Enjoy your time in beautiful PAris!
