Paris Gare Lyon to Charles de Gaules airport

I will be arriving at Paris Gary Lyon in October around 8:30 p.m. Other than by taxi, what would be the best way to get to the CDG airport? I have an 11:45 am departure, so should I spend the night near Gare Lyon, and go the airport the next day, or should I stay at a nearby airport hotel?

If you are just passing thru Paris, why not get a hotel at CDG for the night? Take the Metro/RER combo to CDG the evening you arrive in Paris. There are several hotels at CDG; you would not have the stress of trying to get to the airport in commute traffic (with luggage) in the morning.

If you wish to stay near CDG, the Accor chain has several hotels from which to choose. The cheapest is the Hotel F1 Roissy Aéroport CDG PN 2. The next cheapest is the Etap Hotel Roissy CDG Paris Nord 2. Both offer free shuttle bus service to the airport.

The Hotel Ibis Charles de Gaulle Aeroport/Terminal is also an Accor hotel. It is located right next to Terminal 3 and within a short walk of a stop on the free CDGVAL driverless shuttle train that runs 24/7 between all the terminals.

The cheapest way to get to CDG from Gare de Lyon is to take the RER D to Gare du Nord and transfer to the RER B, taking it to CDG. The fare is 8.50 EUR. Be aware that the RER B line divides northeast of Paris so be sure to get on a train that is going to CDG.

You can also take Air France coach (highway bus) #4 directly from Gare de Lyon to CDG. The fare is 16.50 EUR.

The only CDG hotel I would add to Tim's list is another Accor hotel, the Ibis Paris Nord 2, in the same four-hotel complex as the Etap and Formule 1 he mentions....all connected to CDG by a shuttle that stops at the RER station for walking access to T1 and 3...and a short run on the CDGVal to T2. The Formule 1's have bathrooms down the hall...the Etaps and Ibis' have ensuites.
