We will be travelling with four adults, by Eurorail to Paris. Think we will want to catch taxi to hotel (Odeon/Latin Quarter) to get there easier then by metro/bus. Is this expensive? Any cautions re catching taxi at the station.
Maria - I'm not sure of your ages or the amount of luggage you will have . I know you ask for a taxi, but I thought I would let you know another option.
Here are the Metro directions. Take the Metro 4 line from Gare du Nord (Direction Porte d'Orleans) to Odeon. It'll take about 11 minutes and cost a couple of euro.
Two of us are in sixties (but very healthy and walk a lot) and two in fifties. We travel light but our friends do not necessarily heed that advice.
If you take a cab ask what the full price is before you leave and if it includes the luggage. I had a cab driver give me an estimate for the fare and when we arrived at the hotel he wanted more money for each bag.
Mike, the bags are always extra, and as well, late night taxi rides incur an extra charge.
According to the world taximeter site, the trip will take around 15 minutes and the fare will be less than €15.
